Meet the team

Dedicated to creating change.

Excel Into Independence was founded by social workers, educators, and formerly homeless young adults who understand the challenges of transitioning to independence.

Our organization began when three social workers, Maria, James, and Sarah, noticed a critical gap in services for young adults aging out of foster care and those experiencing homelessness. They found that while there were programs for children and older adults, young adults aged 18-30 often fell through the cracks of social service systems.

Today, Excel Into Independence operates a network of emergency and transitional housing programs across multiple cities, providing not just shelter but comprehensive support services that address education, employment, mental health, and life skills development. Our team includes professionals from diverse backgrounds alongside young adults who have successfully navigated their own paths from homelessness to independence.
